Talk About Records è lieta di presentare la sua nuova uscita discografica. I’m not Dead yet” è il nuovo disco del giovane bluesman sardo Mirko Bigbon. Nasce dalla necessità di di rielaborare la musica tradizionale americana affrontando tematiche sociali, di protesta, nella chiave narrativa tipica del Folksinging. “I’m not Dead yet“, come una discussione accesa, riapre tematiche quali l’occupazione militare della Sardegna (The devil takes my soul), la crisi del comparto industriale di Ottana (Let it Burn) mescolate a misura nella tradizione americana (Cotton Field, Gambler’s blues) per dialogare, consapevolmente, attraverso la necessità storica del Blues e la sua ciclicità. Il disco è registrato e prodotto da River of Gennargentu e pubblicato da Talk About Records in 100 copie CD in edizione limitata, disponibile inoltre nella versione digitale su tutti i principali stores e piattaforme streaming come iTunes, Spotify, Amazon e tanti altri.

Mirko BigBon, classe 1992, nasce a Cagliari. Nel 2014 si trasferisce a Bologna dove, attraverso lo studio delle prime sonorità delta e hill country blues e della old time music americana, scopre l’importanza del folklore e la sua dialettica all’interno dell’immaginario collettivo contemporaneo. Vincitore del premio “Miglior Musicista Arezzo Wave 2018”, tutt’ora lavora come One-Man Band attraverso Italia e Sardegna.

Mirko BigBon was born in Cagliari ,Sardinia, in 1992. In 2014 he moved to Bologna where, through the study of the Hill Country Blues, Delta Blues and early Bluegrass, he discovered the importance of folklore and its dialectic within the contemporary collective imagination. Winner of the “Best Musician” award at Arezzo Wave 2018, he still works and travel as One-Man Band through Italy and Sardinia.

Talk About is really proud to announce the release of “I’m not dead yet,” the new album of the Sardinian one-man band Big Bon. This 7 tracks album is a like a heated discussion that utilizes the common narrative key of Folksinging to deal with social justice issues related to the contemporary context of Sardinia island. Mirko addresses topics such as the military occupation of the island (The devil takes my soul), the crisis of the industrial work in Sardinia central area (Let It Burn), using the great American musical tradition (Cotton Field, Gambler’s blues) as the expressive vehicle for his personal path in music.

The Album is recorded and produced by the legendary Sardinian bluesman River of Gennargentu, and it’s available in 100 Limited Edition CD copies. You can also stream and download it from Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, Deezer, Pandora, Napster and many others.

KING HOWL – ROUGAROU

 “Rougarou” is the third album by the Sardinian heavy blues band King Howl. Ten tracks of blues fueled – booze soaked Rock’n’Roll. A new proof for the band’s peculiar, distinctive sound defined through these years on the road. Here, the essential patterns of blues music are mixed again with a strong Rock’n’Roll attitude, that pushes the composition more to the side of 70’s Classic Rock, without denying the reference with other important influences like Stoner Rock, the late sixties proto-punk, the psychedelia. The tracklist is composed by 9 unreleased songs plus the band’s version of Canned Heat’s classic “On the Road Again”. “Rougarou” explores the thematic of change, of the transformation, no matter If this is linked to the growing up of a kid, the romance of traveling, a nervous breakdown, or the mutation in a werewolf.

“Rougarou” has been recorded in Sardinia and mixed at NHQ Studios, Ferrara, by Gabriele Boi. The artwork of the album is made by Elena Cabitza. The record will be released by the two Sardinian labels Talk About Records and Electric Valley Records and sponsored by the Streetwear brand REESON, and will be available from July 7th, 2017 in three different formats: digipack cd, digital (Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon, Napster etc.) and an exclusive 12’’ Vinyl edition, printed in two colors that will be distributed internationally by Clear Spot (vinyl preorders will begin July 7th and will be shipped from September 1).

“Rougarou” è il terzo disco della heavy blues band sarda KING HOWL. 10 tracce di boogie blues e Rock’n’Roll, una ennesima prova della peculiare impronta stilistica del gruppo, definita nel corso degli anni sulla strada, da un concerto all’altro.

In questo nuovo disco i pattern essenziali del blues vengono miscelati nuovamente attraverso una attitudine marcatamente Rock’n’Roll, che spinge le composizioni sempre più verso i territori del Classic Rock anni ’70, senza rinnegare il riferimento ad altre importanti influenze come lo Stoner Rock, il proto-punk di fine anni ’60, la psichedelia. La tracklist del disco è composta da nove brani inediti più una personale versione riarrangiata del classico dei Canned Heat “On the Road Again”. Il disco esplora la tematica del cambiamento, della trasformazione, sia questa relativa al crescita personale, al romanticismo di un viaggio, ad un esaurimento nervoso, o alla mutazione in uomo lupo.

“Rougarou” è stato registrato in Sardegna e mixato al NHQ Studio di Ferrara da Gabriele Boi. L’artwork del disco è invece opera di Elena Cabitza. L’album è prodotto grazie alla collaborazione tra due etichette sarde, la Talk About Records (casa discografica di Santu Lussurgiu che con questo disco raggiunge il traguardo delle 20 pubblicazioni) e la Electric Valley Records (etichetta del sassarese attiva da anni nei circuiti Stoner & Heavy Psych). We’re proud to announce a new special project. For this time, we shift from our Rock’n’Roll/Blues focus to release a record that blend ambient guitar sounds with the naturalistic imaginary of the magical island of Sardinia.

We proudly announce the release of “A Bolu, in C”, Debut album of S A R R A M.

In Sardinian language, the meaning of “A Bolu” is connected with the flight, with the velocity, with doing a task with ease and rapidity. For this reason, the meaning of  “A Bolu” is related to the extemporization of verses and rhymes, of sounds and patterns. Here the concept of “A Bolu” merges with the work of S A R R A M and with his solo album. The debut album of this ambient musician coming from Nuoro (Center Sardinia) is composed of one side – everlasting track of 37 minutes, all played by one guitar (no synths or percussions) that improvises a harmonic journey moving through the exploration of different scales, surrounded by an electric, ethereal Drone soundscape.

This ambient/drone Joint is embellished by the Album artwork, which serves as a visual counterpart to the sound suggestions of “A Bolu”. Here the music of S A R R A M meets the naturalistic shootings of Bobore Frau, a Sardinian photographer that took 10 different photos framing moments of Barbagia, inland mountain territory of Sardinia, where S A R R A M currently lives. Every photo exists in ten copies (10X10=100), one for every copy of “A Bolu”.

S A R R A M is Valerio Marras, also the guitarist of Thank U For Smoking, Charun, Spheres, and his first solo album “A Bolu, in C” was recorded, mixed and mastered by Nicola Olla at Blacktooth studio in Cagliari.

“A bolu, in C” will be out on February 10th in 100 digipack hand-numbered copies.

DON LEONE – WELCOME TO SOUTH WEST

Anticipato dal video del primo brano del disco Be my Woman (diretto da Alessandro Corgiolu), “Welcome to South West” è il primo disco di DON LEONE, un duo raw blues composto da Donato Cherchi e Matteo Leone. Si sono incontrati nella loro terra, il Sud Ovest dell’Isola di Sardegna, ed hanno deciso di unire lo storytelling Rap Blues di Donnie (già uscito per Talk About con L’Alligatore Mixtape e Donniebegood) allo stile Delta Blues che da tempo contraddistingue la carriera del polistrumentista Matteo Leone (già con Snake Platform, Carovana Folk, Redneck Riders). Chitarre slide, voci rauche e battiti di mani per tenere il tempo. Viaggiano di città in città per far sentire il suono delle strade di campagna del Sulcis, che sono piene di incroci, come quelle paludose delle storie del blues.

Il 18 gennaio 2016 la collana DIY BLUES EP di Talk About Records, dopo i grandi risultati di River of Gennargentu, DD&A e Sunsweet Blues Revenge, aggiunge un altro importante tassello al Blues Made in Sardinia, fatto da musicisti giovani, contraddistinti da uno stile nuovo, schietto, originale. Programmato in 150 Copie fatte in casa, come vuole la miglior tradizione DO IT YOURSELF, “Welcome to South West” vi da il benvenuto in un Sulcis polveroso dove i dettami del Down Home Blues servono a rimescolare e stravolgere brani presi direttamente dall’American SongBook e dalle Prison Songs raccolte da Alan Lomax (Be my Woman, Black Mountain, Oh, Mary), messi accanto a rivisitazioni (vere e proprie riscritture) di classici appartenenti ad altri ambienti musicali, dagli Iron Maiden (The Number of the Beasti) a Drake (Hotline Bling).
